Because Vanderbilt University Medical Center is a nonprofit organization, philanthropy is essential to maintaining our role as a leader in making health care personal. Donor support is necessary to fulfill all areas of our mission from our researchers who pursue ideas that can lead to critical discoveries, to our residents and fellows who receive expert training and our health care teams who provide compassionate, specialized care to patients.
The Canby Robinson Society honors and encourages those who provide annual support at the leadership level for the health care, discovery research and professional training programs at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. George Canby Robinson, MD, was dean of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in the 1920s and oversaw the design of a new Medical Center building with teaching, patient care and research capabilities under one roof. This culture of collaboration remains a hallmark of the Medical Center today.
The Canby Robinson Society recognizes individual households making leadership gifts of $1,000 or more on an annual basis supporting the mission of Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Annual Contribution $1,000 to $2,999
Members of our Bronze level receive:

Annual Contribution $3,000 to $4,999
In addition to the previous benefits, members of our Silver level receive:
- Priority parking decal for convenient access to the 21st Avenue Nashville campus
- Printed editions of our most inspiring publications delivered to their door
- Invitation to the Medical Center's "Behind the Scenes" event series
Annual Contribution $5,000 to $9,999
In addition to the previous benefits, members of our Gold level receive:
- Invitation to our Donor Celebration
- Personal acknowledgement of their philanthropic impact from Zeena Abdulahad, Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer
Annual Contribution $10,000 to $24,999
In addition to the previous benefits, members of our Platinum level receive:
- A special "thank you" gift as a token of our appreciation
Annual Contribution $25,000 or higher
In addition to the previous benefits, members of our Diamond level receive:
- Tailored opportunities* to connect directly key leaders and innovators shaping the future of care.
These experiences will be coordinated directly with the donor. Planning and coordination will be supported by the Major Gifts Office and other team members in Development and across the Medical Center.
