Enhancing Spiritual Care for Patients

Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is a proud innovator in the field of pediatric spiritual care thanks to generous supporters like the Wilbert Foundation. With this support, the Spiritual Care team can enhance spiritual and emotional care for our patients, families, and staff. This generosity also fuels research and education initiatives that advance our efforts in spiritual care.

Rev. Elian Cox, Assistant Manager of the Spiritual Care team, shared, “I chose to become a pediatric chaplain because I believe children have rich spiritual selves and can teach us so much about their inner life, their joys and their needs when we listen and engage them. I am grateful that this vision is shared by our Spiritual Care team and that we are valued as members of the interdisciplinary care team on every hospital floor we serve.”

Pediatric spiritual care continues to evolve in new and exciting ways, and the team at Monroe Carell is honored to be a part of advancing this work thanks to supporters like the Wilbert Foundation.
